Lumbini

Lumbini is one of the most important secluded and secret place for Buddhist followers in the world, because divine Lord Shiddarth Gautma Buddha was born here, around 623 BC, on the day of Baishakaha Purnima (full moon day of May) under the tree in Pushkarini (the sacred pond). Prince Siddhartha latter practice and performed severe penance and transformed himself to Buddha.

Inscribed on the Ashoka Pillar that here the newly born price took his first seven steps and gave a peace message to humanity. The temple of Mayadevi is one of the important sites in the Lumbin garden with many historians and archaeologists referring to it as the place of birth of Lord Buddha.

In the 14th century, Mayadevi was worshipped as an incarnation of the goddess and the temples dates back to 2,200 years old. There still exist archaeological evidence proclaim as the birthplace of Lord Buddha. In the 14th century the king Ripu Malla left the secret carving in the sandstone depicting the birth of the Buddha.

The monasteries were supported to build by various countries around the world to established symbol of peace. Visit the Mayadavi Temple and wonderful garden to enter into meditative nirvana. There located a yoga center which is Panditarama Vipassana Center. This yoga center is for the practice of yoga and meditation. In the vicinity of the center you will find devoted Buddhist monks practicing and engaging in the religious worship by devoting their time. Once can interact with the monks and learn about the meditate teaching of Buddha.

The Lumbini Garden covers an area of 2.56 sq km or 1 x 3 sq miles and encompasses three zones each covering one square mile connected with walkways and a canal. The area has sub tropical monsoon climate with warm wet season. If you are in Nepal don’t forget to visit Lumini for the some nirvana.
